Temuera Derek Morrison MNZM, (born 26 December 1960), is a renowned New Zealand actor who rose to prominence in New Zealand for playing Dr. Hone Ropata on the soap opera Shortland Street. He is highly praised for his portrayal of Jake The Muss Heke in Once Were Warriors (1994) and its sequel in 1999. Morrison gained international fame through his roles in the Star Wars franchise, where he portrayed Jango Fett and his genetic clones, such as the clone troopers and Boba Fett. The role of Jango was first played by Morrison in the 2002 film Attack of the Clones. His portrayal of Boba Fett includes voicing the character in the 2004 re-release of The Empire Strikes Back, various video games, and fully playing Boba in The Mandalorian (2019–present) and The Book of Boba Fett (2021–2022). In 2022, Morrison appeared in a recurring role on Echo 3, a black ops thriller series. Chief Tui, Moana's father in Disney's Moana (2016), was voiced by Morrison, and for his role as Tom Curry, father of Arthur Curry, in Aquaman (2018), The Flash (2023), and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023). Early life Born in Rotorua on 26 December 1960, Morrison hails from the North Island of New Zealand. His parents are Hana Morrison (née Stafford) and musician Laurie Morrison. He is Māori, of Te Arawa (Ngāti Whakaue) and Tainui (Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Rarua) whakapapa, and also has Scottish and Irish ancestry. Taini Morrison, his sister, was a performer, and his uncle, Sir Howard Morrison, was a musician. Morrison completed his secondary schooling at Wesley College (Auckland) and Western Heights High School (Rotorua).
